Gros Cap is a wave spot on the Magdalen Islands' southwest coast, exposed to the Gulf of St. Lawrence. Unlike the Lagune (flat water), Gros Cap offers waves and chop — ideal for wave riding and strapless. This is the "sea side" of the archipelago.
The sandy beach is long and exposed. Wind is constant on the islands. Waves form with south and southwest winds (Gulf fetch). For advanced riders when conditions are muscular.
Ocean coast exposed to the Gulf of St. Lawrence. Significant waves and swell in south/southwest winds. Sandy bottom, gradual depth from the beach. Water 16-20°C in summer. Low tide but affects sandbars and wave shape.
