Overview

Kitesurf spot on the north coast of Grosse-ĂŽle, near the famous Mines Seleine (Quebec's only salt mine). The beach offers direct access to the Gulf of St. Lawrence with a very open northern exposure. The water is exposed to Gulf swells with frequent chop in northerly winds. Sandy bottom with easy beach launch.

Open water on the Gulf of St. Lawrence. Chop to waves depending on wind strength and direction. Current can be present along the coast. Progressive sandy bottom. Water stays cold even in summer (12-16°C), 4/3 or 5/3 wetsuit recommended.

Hazards

North coast exposed to Gulf swells — conditions can change rapidly. Coastal currents possible. Cold water year-round requiring thick wetsuit. Isolated area with few services nearby. Watch for rocks in some areas along the coast.
