Bay-style body of water with moderate chop. Tidal currents can be strong, especially near the shipping channel. Water is cold year-round (10-16°C/50-61°F), a 4/3 or 3/2 wetsuit is necessary. The bottom is muddy with some rocks near shore. The bay offers relatively flat riding with wind chop on windy days.
Strong tidal currents that can pull riders offshore. Heavy maritime traffic including ferries, cargo ships, and recreational boats. Submerged rocks near shore. Cold water increases hypothermia risk during extended sessions. Frequent fog can reduce visibility suddenly.
