Fence is a spot located on the Port Elizabeth coast, between Kings Beach and the harbour. The name refers to the fence that delimits the area. It is a beach spot appreciated by local kiters for its reliable wind conditions and accessibility. The beach faces south and offers beach break on sandy bottom. Good intermediate spot in PE's urban area.
The spot works with SE to WSW wind. Beach break on sandy bottom. Rideable at all tides. Less crowded with swimmers than Kings Beach. Good riding space. Best from October to March.
Waves of 0.5-2 metres. Sandy bottom. Moderate chop in SE. Water temperature between 18-22°C. 3/2 wetsuit in summer, 4/3 in winter.

Sharks in Algoa Bay. Lateral currents possible. Strong wind possible. Harbour proximity — do not drift towards harbour installations. Gear theft in urban area.
Southeast wind blows side-onshore. Same wind regime as Kings Beach. PE being the "Windy City", SE is very reliable. Strength of 15-25 knots in summer. WSW is onshore and functional.
