Rufanes River Mouth is a spot located east of Port Alfred on the Sunshine Coast of the Eastern Cape. This river mouth offers flat water conditions in the estuary, complemented by access to the ocean beach. The setting is natural and undeveloped, offering a quiet experience away from crowds.

Access via secondary tracks from the coastal road east of Port Alfred. Parking on natural ground. Undeveloped area.
The dominant wind is south-westerly, side-onshore on this south-facing coast. Westerly and WSW winds are also favourable. The estuary can channel the wind. South-westerly thermals in summer afternoons.
Strong current at the mouth on outgoing tide. Sharks present. Isolated spot with no rescue — don't sail alone.
