Mdumbi Point is the rocky point adjacent to Mdumbi Beach on the Wild Coast. This exposed spot offers more committed conditions than the beach, with direct ocean swell and coastal currents. Reserved for experienced riders. Exceptional natural setting with warm subtropical waters (20-24°C).
The spot works in SW to S winds, with a noticeable south swell. The point creates a quality wave zone and wind acceleration. Best at mid-tide. At high tide, rocks are covered but currents are stronger.
Open ocean with sustained swell. Warm water (20-24°C). Rocky bottom at the point, watch for sea urchins. Noticeable currents. Ideal wave conditions for wave riding.

Same access as Mdumbi Beach. Parking near Mdumbi Backpackers then walk to the point. Coastal path to access the spot.
Exposed rocks with sea urchins. Strong coastal currents. Powerful swell. Sharks present. Isolated spot with no rescue. Buddy system imperative. Never sail alone.
Same wind conditions as Mdumbi Beach. SW wind is the most favourable, blowing side-onshore. The point creates local accelerations and turbulence. Gusts can be stronger at the point. NE winds are offshore and not recommended.
