Kariega Main Beach is the main beach of Kenton-on-Sea village, located at the Kariega River mouth on the Sunshine Coast of the Eastern Cape. This beautiful sandy beach offers a family-friendly and accessible setting for kitesurfing, with the option of sailing in flat water in the estuary or in ocean conditions on the beach.

The dominant wind is south-westerly, side-onshore on this south-facing coast. Westerly and WSW winds are also favourable. Regular south-westerly thermals in summer afternoons. Typical strength of 15-25 knots.
Strong current at the Kariega mouth, especially on outgoing tide. Shore break in big swell. Sharks present in these waters. Sun protection essential.
