Maitlands Beach is a long sandy beach located between Port Elizabeth and Jeffreys Bay, in the Maitlands area. The beach faces south and offers beach break conditions on sandy bottom. It is a less crowded spot than PE or J-Bay, offering a quieter setting. The beach is long and open, with good space for riding. Accessible intermediate spot.
The spot works with SE to WSW wind. Long sandy beach with beach break. Rideable at all tides. Less crowded than PE or J-Bay — good spot for quiet riding. Best from October to March.
Waves of 0.5-2 metres (beach break). Sandy bottom. Moderate chop. Water temperature between 18-22°C. 3/2 wetsuit in summer, 4/3 in winter.

Access from the N2 between PE and J-Bay, Maitlands exit. Small parking near the beach. Semi-rural area. Limited facilities. PE 40 min, J-Bay 30 min away.
Sharks present in the area. Semi-isolated spot — no lifeguard. Shore break during large swells. Lateral currents possible. Do not ride alone at this isolated spot.
Southeast wind blows side-onshore. Position between PE and J-Bay, benefiting from the same reliable wind regime. Strength of 15-25 knots in summer. WSW is onshore. Good wind exposure without obstacles on this open coast.
