Matemwe is a kitesurf spot on the northeast coast of Zanzibar. The beach faces east onto the Indian Ocean and receives the southeast trade winds during the Kusi season (June to October). The coral reef creates a reef flat that is exposed at low tide, offering a flat-water playground. The tide is the defining element of this spot: it completely transforms the landscape. Matemwe offers an authentic setting with its traditional fishing village. Suited to intermediate riders.
