Sandy Bay Beach is a beach in the Bloubergstrand area, north of Big Bay. Not to be confused with the Sandy Bay on the Cape Peninsula, this spot offers a sandy beach with conditions similar to the rest of the Bloubergstrand coast. The south-easterly Cape Doctor blows side-onshore, providing moderate freeride and wave conditions. Less known and less crowded than the main spots.
Works from October to March with the SE Cape Doctor. Sandy beach. Moderate waves. All tides.

Cold water (12-16°C), 4/3 or 5/3 wetsuit. Waves 0.5-2 m. Sandy bottom. Chop. Lateral current. Kelp.
Parking along the coastal road. Easy beach access. Don't leave valuables in your car.
South-easterly Cape Doctor, side-onshore. Wind of 15 to 35 knots from October to March. Same regime as the rest of Bloubergstrand.
Cold water. Shore break. Current. Kelp. Strong wind possible. Car break-ins.
