Milnerton is a kitesurfing spot located south of Sunset Beach, along the Table Bay coast. The beach is long and sandy, bordered by the Milnerton Lighthouse, an iconic landmark of the area. The spot offers wind conditions identical to the rest of the Bloubergstrand coast with the south-easterly Cape Doctor. Milnerton is appreciated for its space — less crowded than the popular spots to the north. The proximity of the Milnerton Lagoon (Rietvlei) offers a flatwater alternative when ocean conditions are too powerful.
Works from October to March with the SE Cape Doctor side-onshore. The west-facing beach receives the wind from the right. Works at all tides. Waves are generally medium (1-2 m). Less crowded than Big Bay, more suited to relaxed freeride. The Milnerton Lagoon next door offers flatwater for beginners or freestyle.
Cold Atlantic water (12-16°C), 4/3 or 5/3 wetsuit essential. Waves of 0.5 to 2 meters. Safe sandy bottom. Moderate to strong wind chop. Lateral current toward the north. Floating kelp. Fewer riders than at the main Blouberg spots.
