Ngor is one of Dakar's most popular spots, located on the western tip of the Cap-Vert peninsula near Les Almadies — the westernmost point of the African continent.
The area is legendary for surf: Ngor Right is Senegal's most famous wave, featured in the 1966 surf film "The Endless Summer". The island also has a more confidential left.
For kitesurf, two beach options: Ngor Left Beach and Ngor Right Beach. Constant wind conditions with moderate waves make it suited for intermediate to advanced riders. Several surf and kite schools operate in the area.
The tiny Ngor Island (800m wide, 800m offshore) reached by pirogue offers a peaceful atmosphere with galleries, restaurants and a surf camp.
Nearby: Le Virage beach (between Ngor and Yoff) known for powerful waves, good for longboarders and beginners.
Tourist area with many accommodations, restaurants and equipment rental.
