The Outeniqua Mountains to the north can create turbulence effects and gusts with northwest wind. Southwest wind accompanies cold fronts and can be strong but unstable. The Touw River valley can locally accelerate the wind.

Hazards

Powerful shore break during large southwest swells. Lateral currents possible. Sharks present in the area — stay vigilant. No permanent lifeguard service. The Touw River mouth can create currents. Conditions can change rapidly with the arrival of cold fronts. Distance from emergency services.
