Sundays River is a spot located at the mouth of the Sundays River (Zondagsrivier), east of Port Elizabeth in Algoa Bay. The mouth offers a mix of flat water in the estuary and waves at the ocean exit. The area is wild and natural, on the edge of Addo Elephant National Park. The Sundays River estuary is wide and can offer excellent flat water riding conditions at high tide.
The spot works with SE to SW wind. The estuary offers flat water at high tide. The ocean beach at the mouth has regular waves. Currents at the mouth vary with tide and river flow. Best at high tide for the estuary. The mouth state changes regularly.
Flat water in the estuary, waves of 1-2 metres on the ocean side. Sandy bottom. Currents at the mouth. Warm water in the estuary (19-24°C), 18-22°C on the ocean side. 3/2 wetsuit in summer.

Access from the N2 east of PE, towards Colchester or Sundays River Mouth. Partially unpaved road. Limited parking near the mouth. Few facilities. Village of Colchester nearby for basic services.
Currents at the mouth, especially on outgoing tide. Sharks present (river mouths attract sharks). Semi-isolated spot. Elephants possible in the area (Addo proximity). Do not ride alone.
Southeast wind blows side-onshore on the coast. The Sundays River valley can channel the wind. Strength of 15-25 knots in summer. Wind is reliable in the PE area. SSW and SW work as onshore on the beach at the mouth.
