Magna Tubes is a reef spot located between Boneyards and Kitchen Windows in the Jeffreys Bay point break series. This reef produces quality right-handers during southwest swells. Like Supertubes, this is a spot reserved for experts due to the rocky reef and powerful waves. Kiting is tolerated when surfers are not present, but local rules must be strictly followed.
The spot works with SW swell on the reef. Quality right-hand waves. Kiting possible with SE but only when surfers are absent. Mid-high to high tide for the best waves and more depth over the reef. Do not ride at low tide — reef too shallow.
Waves of 1.5-3 metres on rocky reef. Dangerous reef bottom. Currents along the point break. Water temperature between 18-22°C. 3/2 wetsuit in summer, 4/3 in winter. Helmet recommended.

Open all year round
Access from the J-Bay coastal road. Some informal parking spaces. Accessible on foot from Supertubes or Kitchen Windows. No facilities on site.
Shallow rocky reef — VERY DANGEROUS. Powerful waves on the reef. Sharks (great whites). Possible conflicts with surfers. Currents along the reef. Reserved for confirmed experts in kite wave riding on reef. Do not ride without a local guide the first time.
Southeast wind blows side-onshore. Same wind characteristics as other J-Bay spots. Strength of 15-25 knots in summer. SE is onshore for surfing but functional for kite wave riding. Best surf is with NW (offshore) wind.
