Achakar is a long sandy beach located at the foot of Cap Spartel, Morocco's westernmost point where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic, about 10 miles west of Tangier city.
The beach faces almost full west, making kitesurfing safe in N, NW and W winds (Tarifa's Poniente wind is completely onshore here). In autumn and winter, the spot turns into a nice wave spot due to North Atlantic swells, with winds up to 25 knots.
Cap Spartel itself is worth the scenic drive from Tangier through green mountains with stunning sea views. Not overly crowded on weekends. Accommodation available in small hotels and B&Bs around the Cap Spartel area.
Long sandy beach. Flat to waves depending on season and swell. Freeride in calm conditions, wave riding autumn/winter with North Atlantic swell.
Open all year round
