The main spot of Dakar, on the north coast of the Cap-Vert peninsula. Yoff Beach is very wide and extensive, locally known as the "Beach Breaks of Yoff". The main spot is at the BCEAO recreation centre, under the beach huts (paillotes).
Head left for 500m to reach Yoff village and the beautiful Ice Spot past the Layenne mosque. Head right towards Cambérène then Malika and the Grande Côte northward.
NE trade winds blow well on this north-facing coast, face-on or slightly from the right. Afternoon thermal turns wind N-NW. Waves on rising tide typically 1-2m, up to 4m in heavy swells.
Urban and lively spot — beware of crowds on the beach for launching/landing. Leave belongings at the paillotes for 1000 FCFA. Very active local kite community.
Season: November to June. Water 20-27°C, air 25-35°C.

NE trade winds dominant November to June, 10-20 knots. Offshore in morning, turning N-NW afternoon via thermal effect. Harmattan possible January-February (hot gusty east wind). Rainy season July-October with weak humid westerly.
Rip currents: form depending on tides, especially rising tide.
Waves: typically 1-2m, up to 4m in heavy swells.
Urban beach: beware swimmers, fishermen and pirogues. Launching/landing tricky when beach is crowded.
