Agios Georgios is the main beach of Naxos Town (Chora), located just south of the port. This long crescent-shaped golden sand beach is the most accessible kite spot on the island, a few minutes walk from the town center. Water is exceptionally shallow over a very large distance, creating a natural lagoon ideal for beginners. The N/NNE Meltemi arrives side-shore along this west coast, offering reliable conditions. Agios Georgios is the perfect starting point for discovering kitesurfing on Naxos.
Agios Georgios works with the N/NNE Meltemi side-shore. The natural lagoon created by extremely shallow water (30-50cm over 200m+) is perfect for kite lessons. Some kite schools operate on the southern part of the beach, away from swimmers. Cohabitation with tourists is the main challenge — the beach is very popular. Sail in the designated kite zone, respecting swimmers.

Turquoise Cycladic waters, 22-26°C in summer. Lycra or light shorty. Perfectly flat sandy bottom, barely ankle-deep water for hundreds of meters. Minimal chop in the lagoon. Most reassuring conditions on Naxos for learning.
Town parking in Naxos Town. Limited beachside spots in high season. Possible to walk from the town center or ferry port. Vehicle rental available in town.
The N/NNE Meltemi arrives side-shore on west-facing Agios Georgios beach. Wind is slightly attenuated by the town and port to the north, but remains reliable at 15-22 knots in summer. Less powerful than Mikri Vigla to the south thanks to partial town protection. Wind building at noon, peaking in afternoon. Season from June to September.
Significant cohabitation with swimmers and tourists — the main town beach is very busy. Strictly respect kite zones. Side-shore wind can carry beginners southward. Port proximity — do not sail north. Strong sun exposure.
