Lagoa de Santo André is a large coastal lagoon within the Reserva Natural das Lagoas de Santo André e da Sancha, between Comporta and Sines. Despite appearances, kitesurfing is prohibited inside the lagoon as it is a protected nature reserve.
The ocean side of the sandbar offers conditions similar to Comporta and Carvalhal — NW Nortada, some waves, sandy beach. But kites are rarely seen here. If you have the choice, head to São Torpes/Sines for more reliable wind, or Lagoa de Albufeira for flat water.
The beach (Praia da Costa de Santo André) itself is family-friendly with calm lagoon swimming, good infrastructure (showers, restaurants, parking).

⚠️ KITE PROHIBITED IN THE LAGOON: the Lagoa de Santo André is a protected nature reserve. Kitesurfing and windsurfing are forbidden inside the lagoon. Only the ocean side is rideable, but rarely used for kiting.
