Chicken Bay is the southernmost spot of the Afiartis area in Karpathos, considered the "most accessible" of the southern tip spots — but don't be fooled, conditions remain powerful! This small east-facing bay offers slightly more protection than Devils Bay and Gun Bay, making it the preferred choice on extreme Meltemi days or for advanced riders discovering Karpathos for the first time.
Small east-facing bay, the most protected in the Afiartis area. Works with the N/NNW Meltemi as side-offshore. Smaller waves than Devils Bay (0.5-1.5m). Good compromise between powerful conditions and relative safety. Kite/windsurf centre in the area.
Warm Aegean Sea in summer (23-26°C). More moderate wind waves (0.5-1.5m). Sandy bottom. No wetsuit needed in summer.

Open all year round
Access from Afiartis via track. Parking on natural ground. This is the southernmost and most easily accessible spot in the area.
Powerful side-offshore wind. Risk of drifting out to sea. Gusts possible. Rocks on the edges. Although more accessible, this spot remains reserved for advanced riders. The Karpathos Meltemi is among the strongest in the Mediterranean.
Same N/NNW Meltemi regime as neighbouring spots but with less acceleration effect thanks to topographic protection. Typical strength 20-30 knots, gusts 35+. Side-offshore direction. This is the most "manageable" spot in the area in strong Meltemi. Season: June to September.
