De Houw / IJsselmeer is a kitesurf spot on the Waddenzee dyke coast of Friesland (near the IJsselmeer boundary), accessed from the shore near Workum/Hindeloopen area. Shallow flat water — excellent for beginners. ⚠️ Tide-dependent: only kiteable ~2 hours either side of high tide. Booties essential (sharp shells/stones).
Works with N/NE/E/NW/W. Waddenzee UNESCO World Heritage area — respect zone boundaries and wildlife (seals!). Year-round but best April–August. Typical Waddenzee flat water conditions when tide is right. Spectacular views of the Wadden mudflats.
GPS: De Houw, Friesland, near Workum/Hindeloopen. Access via dyke road. Tide-critical — check tide times before travelling. Booties mandatory. Parking at dyke. Seals frequently visible. Respect all Waddenzee nature rules.
