The Mont Racine spot is a large spot with varied terrain, enough to cover kilometers, do your first slope soaring and have a great time with your friends. Access is by car, then the rest on foot or with snowshoes/skins depending on snow conditions.
Access to the spot is in 2 phases, first by road from Les Genneveys-sur-Coffrane and then the rest on skins or snowshoes. The road is not really cleared in winter so a 4x4 is more than recommended (unless there's only snow at the top). Then the access on skins is easy and not very long. If there isn't much snow, there are quite a few small roads leading to the spot (don't drive on them though). If the road is not accessible, you can also access the spot from Tête de Ran. Then you'll need touring skis or snowshoes, but the advantage is that it's flat!
Open all year round
Normal (Car access at spot edge)
Altitude: 1439m
Parking indicated on the map. Be careful, road access can be tricky in winter, we recommend a 4x4, or carpool in your buddy's 4x4. You must absolutely park at the first barrier (even if it's open) because after that you enter a military shooting zone and once you've gone up, the army could close the road behind you. Plus snowdrifts form very quickly up there, so there's a real risk of getting stuck.
It works from bise NE to southwest and even a bit in west winds.
Some rocks, some barriers, some stone walls. Do not access the spot if the military are shooting (ask for authorization), but in any case, access will be blocked by guards on duty (attention!).
