Located on the magnificent Andalusian coast in Spain, Canos de la Meca is a true gem for kitesurfing enthusiasts. This unique spot, nestled between El Palmar and Conil de la Frontera, offers ideal conditions for riders of all levels.
Canos de la Meca benefits from consistent and reliable winds throughout the year. The prevailing Levante (East) and Poniente (West) winds create perfect conditions for kitesurfing. The stronger Levante generates more impressive waves, while the Poniente offers calmer and more stable sessions, perfect for beginners and freestyle enthusiasts. It's a good backup spot when conditions are too strong in Tarifa during Levante.
Kitesurfing in Caños de Meca is mainly practiced in the central part, known as Marea Sucia, as well as near the Trafalgar lighthouse. These areas are located in front of the Ohana chiringuito and Las Dunas restaurant-bar.
The wave area is located in front of the white buildings, requiring a good skill level to access and ride this zone. The easiest approach is to launch from the sandy beach and ride upwind (in Levante) to access the waves. On good days, many enthusiasts (wing, kite, windsurf) will be present to chase the good conditions.

Hazards
Kitesurfers should be careful of a rocky formation located on the west side, near the path leading to the Trafalgar lighthouse. Beginners should particularly avoid this area to prevent injuries. Pro kitesurfers must also remain vigilant when jumping with Levante wind, to avoid landing on the rocks. Serious accidents have already occurred, some with severe consequences. To stay safe, it is recommended to navigate on the east side, away from the rocky formations.
