Island Park is a snowkite spot at 1,992m elevation on a vast snow-covered plateau in eastern Idaho, near Yellowstone National Park. The Island Park caldera offers immense flat terrain with abundant snowfall and consistent winds. One of Idaho's best snowkite spots thanks to exceptional snow coverage and available space. Extreme cold — temperatures can drop below -30°C. Rapid hypothermia in strong winds. Frequent blizzards and white-out conditions. High elevation (1,992m): dehydration. Yellowstone bison and elk in the area — maintain distance. Fences hidden under snow. Limited cell coverage.
Flat snow-covered surface on volcanic plateau (caldera). Abundant snowfall — often 2-3m cumulative. Frequent powder snow. Vast open expanses. Elevation 1,992m with winter temperatures from -25°C to -10°C.
