Chestermere is a lake just east of Calgary, at 1027 m altitude. In winter, the frozen lake offers a vast flat surface for snowkiting, easily accessible from the city.
Chestermere Lake is an urban lake surrounded by the city of Chestermere. Its frozen surface in winter, combined with frequent Chinook winds, creates ideal snowkite conditions. It's the most accessible snowkite spot in the Calgary area. Rideable from December to March depending on ice conditions.

ICE CAUTION — Chinooks cause sudden thaws that can weaken ice within hours. Always check thickness. Urban lake — walkers, skaters, and other users. Power lines on the perimeter. Municipal regulations to respect.
Ice surface — check thickness before each session. Snow on ice providing good conditions. Flat and open lake, perfect for snowkiting. Caution: Chinooks can cause rapid thaws weakening the ice.
