The Wasserkuppe (926 m) is the highest point in Hesse and the Rhön mountains. It is one of the best snowkite spots in Germany, with a vast wind-exposed high-altitude plateau that can offer up to 100 days of snow per year.Snowkiting takes place on the grounds of the former airfield, which is unusable in winter due to snow cover. The plateau is vast, open, and obstacle-free, allowing safe sessions and even high jumps under the right thermal conditions.A seasonal Snowkite Card (December to end of March) is required to ride on the site. Kite and paragliding schools in the Rhön offer snowkite lessons in winter from as little as 10 cm of snow. An essential spot for snowkiting in central Germany.
