Lake Amatitlán is a kitesurfing spot located at approximately 1,189 m altitude, near Guatemala City. This volcanic lake offers a calm body of water surrounded by green hills. Thermal winds blow mainly from the southwest in the afternoon, creating favorable conditions for kitesurfing.

Launching is typically done by boat from the shore, making the spot more accessible with the help of a local school. The lake water is relatively warm. A kite school operates on-site offering lessons and launch assistance.

The best season runs from November to March, during the dry season, when thermal winds are most consistent.
