Lago Ilopango is El Salvador's largest lake, located just minutes from the capital San Salvador, at 442 m altitude. This volcanic lake offers a spectacular setting for freshwater kitesurfing.

Thermal wind blows mainly from the northeast, with more consistent conditions during the dry season (November to April). The large body of water offers flat water with occasional chop depending on wind strength. Water is warm.

The spot suits intermediate riders. Beyond kitesurfing, the lake offers many activities: SUP, kayaking, diving, and hiking around the lake. Access is easy from San Salvador.
