Barra de Santiago is a kitesurfing spot on El Salvador's Pacific coast, in the Ahuachapán department. The spot is in a mangrove and estuary area, offering a preserved natural setting between the ocean and the lagoon.
Offshore northeast winds blow during the dry season (November to April), creating favorable kitesurfing conditions. Thermal wind typically picks up late morning. The lagoon offers flat water ideal for beginners, while the ocean has waves for more experienced riders.
The beach is wide and natural, with black volcanic sand typical of El Salvador's Pacific coast. Water is warm year-round.
