Ambergris Caye is Belize's most popular kitesurfing spot, located near San Pedro town. The Belize barrier reef, about 0.75 miles offshore, creates a vast shallow flat water area between the reef and the island, ideal for beginners and intermediate riders.

East to southeast trade winds blow consistently from November to May, with speeds of 15-25 knots. The best period is January to April during the dry season. Water is warm year-round (around 27°C/80°F).

Launch zones cluster near Boca del Rio and along the San Pedro lagoon. Watch out for piers along the coast and water taxi traffic. Several kite schools operate on-site, including floating boat-based operations.
