Koh Lanta is an island in Krabi Province on Thailand's Andaman coast. The long west-facing beaches catch the southwest monsoon winds that blow from May to October, making it a summer kitesurf destination. The main riding areas are along the wide sandy beaches on the western shore.

Conditions are best suited to intermediate riders, with consistent side-shore winds and moderate waves. The sandy bottom and warm tropical waters make for comfortable sessions. Outside the monsoon season, winds are generally too light for kitesurfing.
