Pottuvil is a town near Arugam Bay on the east coast of Sri Lanka in Eastern Province. The beach faces east and receives NE monsoon winds from November to April, and some SW monsoon exposure in summer.

An intermediate spot. Wide sandy beach with warm water. Less crowded than Arugam Bay for kitesurfing. The NE monsoon delivers the most consistent onshore winds. Sandy bottom. Some wave action on the exposed coast. Basic facilities in town. A quieter alternative to Arugam Bay for kite sessions.
