Arugam Point is the famous surf point at the southern end of Arugam Bay on Sri Lanka's east coast in Eastern Province. The point faces south-southeast and is primarily known as one of the world's best right-hand point breaks for surfing.
An advanced spot - kiting here requires caution due to heavy surf traffic. The point break creates powerful waves that are primarily a surf domain. If kitesurfing, stay well clear of the surf lineup. Strong currents around the point. Rocky bottom near the point with sandy areas further out. Only attempt in favorable conditions with offshore or side-shore kite wind. Priority goes to surfers.
