Overview

Samyang Beach is located on the north coast of Jeju Island, east of Jeju City. It is known for its distinctive black sand beach formed from volcanic basalt. The beach faces north and catches NW and W winds that blow across the East China Sea during the winter monsoon.

The black sand beach offers a unique kitesurfing experience. Moderate tidal range. The north-facing exposure makes it one of the windiest spots on Jeju during winter NW wind events. Suitable for intermediate riders with some wave riding experience. Good facilities in nearby Jeju City.
