Nashiro Beach is one of Okinawa's most popular kitesurfing spots, located on the southwest coast of the main island. The best season runs from mid-October to March, when northerly winds blow regularly, sometimes reaching 30 knots. In summer, winds are lighter and come from the south, requiring larger gear.
The spot works with southwest to north-northwest winds. The beach is privately owned with an entrance fee of 450 yen per person. It is essential to monitor tides as the spot sits above shallow coral reefs and it is impossible to ride at low tide.
Okinawa's tropical waters offer pleasant conditions with warm water temperature year-round. The water is generally flat behind the reef, creating an ideal lagoon for kitesurfing. Suited for intermediate riders.
