Sant Pere Pescador (Can Martinet) is the #1 kitesurf spot in Catalunya and one of the most important in the Mediterranean. Located in the Gulf of Roses on the Costa Brava, 2h from Barcelona, 1h from Girona airport. Wide 7 km sandy beach with shallow water near shore — the birthplace of kitesurfing in Catalonia. Official kite zone (Can Martinet, ~300m) operates year-round — one of only 3 spots in Catalunya where kite is allowed in summer. ION CLUB and multiple schools on site. World championship venue. Freeride paradise.

Year-round, no restrictions at Can Martinet zone (~300m). In summer, kite only in the 3 official zones in the bay. Low season: kite anywhere on the 7 km beach.
Spring (March-June): BEST SEASON. Garbí strongest + occasional Tramuntana. Windier than summer. Kites 9-13m (75kg).
Summer (July-Aug): Garbí thermal afternoon, 12-18 kts. Lighter than spring. Kites 11-15m. Lazy mornings possible — wind from ~13h.
Autumn: Tramuntana starts kicking in. Garbí still present. Mix of both — very windy period.
Winter: Tramuntana dominant, 20-50+ kts. Schools closed. Self-rescue mandatory. Wing season.

Beginner
Flat up to 20m offshore, then progressively choppy. No rocks, no stones — safe bottom. Small Mediterranean chop/waves with stronger wind. No tide, no current. Water 15-25°C depending on season. Shorty/boardshort summer, 3/2 spring/autumn, 4/3 winter.
Campsites along the beach (La Ballena Alegre, La Gaviota, etc.). ION CLUB inside La Ballena Alegre camping — low season: park inside; high season: 3h free parking at reception with ION CLUB voucher. Access via AP-7 exit 5 (L'Escala/Empúries).
Garbí (SW/SE thermal) — Spring/summer. The main wind. Picks up in afternoon, 12-20 knots, side-onshore from the right. Stable and moderate. Ideal for beginners/intermediates. Slightly gusty near shore, steadier further out. Kites 9-13m spring, 11-15m summer (75kg).
Tramuntana (N/NW) — Autumn/winter/spring. Descends from the Pyrenees. Very strong 20-50+ knots, gusty. Side-offshore from left. EXPERTS ONLY. Hard to predict but once it arrives, stays 2-3 days. Kites 5-9m². More wings seen recently in Tramuntana.
⚠️ North of the bay (Roses town itself) is NOT ideal for kite — Tramuntana is offshore, thermal is onshore. Stay south of Empuriabrava.
⚠️ Tramuntana can exceed 50-60 knots — experts only, never underestimate.
⚠️ In summer, kite only in official zones — fines otherwise. Three zones in the bay.
⚠️ Wind forecasts often underestimate local thermal — check with local schools for accurate conditions.
⚠️ Garbí slightly gusty near shore — steadier 200m out.
