Maehama Beach is a spot located on the west coast of Niijima Island, in the Izu Archipelago off Tokyo. Unlike Habushiura on the east coast, Maehama faces west, offering different exposure to winds and swell. This beach benefits from southwest winds in summer and cross-shore northeast winds in winter. The body of water is generally calmer than Habushiura as it is protected from the main Pacific swells. It is a good choice when the east coast is too rough. The spot is suitable for intermediates. Niijima Island is accessible by ferry from Tokyo or by small plane from Chofu. The island's free hot springs and the wild beauty of the volcanic landscape make it a unique destination for combining riding sessions and exploration.
