Overview

Llanddwyn Bay (Newborough Beach) is a huge sandy beach on the south-west coast of Anglesey, within the Newborough Nature Reserve. Llanddwyn Island with its lighthouses and ruins of St Dwynwen's Church (patron saint of Welsh lovers) offers a spectacular setting. An excellent kite spot with an extensive and varied body of water.

Parking
Newborough forest car park (paid). 15-20 minute walk through the pine forest to reach the beach. The car park fills up quickly in summer.
Hazards
Strong tidal currents around Llanddwyn Island. Fast incoming tide on the very flat beach. Shifting sandbanks. Relative isolation — long access from the car park.
