Freshwater West is a wild and spectacular beach on the south-west coast of Pembrokeshire, famous for its appearances in the Harry Potter films. Facing south-west towards the Atlantic, it is one of the most powerful spots in Wales with impressive waves. An extensive sandy beach with imposing dunes.
Two car parks (north and south) along the beach, accessible from the B4319 road. No facilities on the beach — bring water and provisions.
Hazards
Very powerful and frequent rip currents. Violent shore break. No lifeguard surveillance. Military zone (Castlemartin Range) nearby — check restrictions. Often extreme conditions.
