Flüelen is located at the southern tip of Urnersee, the wildest part of Lake Lucerne. This spot is known for the Föhn, a warm and powerful southerly wind that can blow very strongly as it crosses the Alps. The Föhn creates spectacular but demanding conditions, with gusts sometimes exceeding 50 knots. The Urnersee is nestled between high mountains, which channel the wind impressively. The scenery is magnificent with steep cliffs plunging into the lake.
