Nice spot located at the top of the Rathvel ski resort. Hilly spot, with a very large wind lip in the middle of the spot. It's mainly a bise (NE) spot, but it also works in southwest.
Access to the spot is either via the Rathvel ski resort https://www.rathvel.ch/ (Point cards are available, so you'll want to go up to the spot more often). Take the Gros Niremont lift (4 points). Once at the top, walk straight towards the summit in front of you. If it's foggy and you don't know the spot, don't go! Or access via the snowshoe trail from the resort parking lot (towards Niremont), about 50 minutes walk (It's quite a climb ;-) )
Open all year round
Freeride (Ski touring access)
Altitude: 1514m
Parking at the Rathvel ski resort. Do not park on the road before the parking lot.
The dominant wind at the spot is the bise (northeast) which is fairly regular. Be careful though, due to its location, the bise often brings a "foehn effect" which creates fog right at the top of the spot. The southwest comes in but is more irregular. The Moléson weather station gives an idea of the wind in the area. You can easily subtract 10 knots to get the wind at Niremont.
Quite a few posts with barbed wire and fog can roll in suddenly and stay for the whole day.
