Gotland Gnisvard is one of the most renowned kitesurfing spots on Gotland, located on the west coast of the island, north of Visby. Gnisvard is a former fishing village offering an idyllic setting with a protected lagoon and an offshore reef. The spot is particularly popular because the water remains perfectly flat inside the lagoon, while beyond the reef, you can ride clean waves in northwest winds. The further north you ride, the flatter the water. The long reef allows you to choose between flat water and waves depending on your preference. The high season is in spring and autumn, when winds are most consistent and water temperature is pleasant. The spot also hosts kitesurf schools such as Strandbacka and LiLo Surfcafe, located above the lagoon. West, southwest, and northwest winds offer the best conditions. This versatile spot suits both beginners (in the lagoon) and advanced riders (on the reef).
