Overview

Ilha Deserta (Barreta Island) is the southernmost point of mainland Portugal, in the Ria Formosa Natural Park. Completely uninhabited — 7 km of pristine white sand, accessible only by boat from Faro. Expert only — no rescue, no infrastructure, strong currents. Stunning isolation. If the wind works, it's a surreal kiting experience in total wilderness.
