Isdammen is a kitesurfing spot located near Longyearbyen, in Svalbard, one of the most northerly sailing locations in the world. This coastal water offers unique Arctic conditions with frequent east and southeast winds channeled by the surrounding valleys. The water is extremely cold year-round, requiring a thick wetsuit and cold-weather gear. The sailing season is very short, limited to the summer months (June-August) when the waters are ice-free. The landscape is spectacular with Arctic mountains as a backdrop. Watch out for changing weather conditions and local wildlife, particularly polar bears.
