Hoek van Holland (Hook of Holland) is a North Sea kitesurf and surf spot at the entrance to the Port of Rotterdam (Zuid-Holland). This spot is known as the starting point of the legendary annual "Hoek to Helder" downwinder (~130km north, typically August–September).

Two parking access points depending on zone: Badweg side (coordinates 51.985, 4.106) or Rechtestraat side (coordinates 51.990, 4.122). Access from Rotterdam via A20 then N220, direction Hoek van Holland. Free parking nearby. In summer: public toilets and showers available.
Water gets deep quickly from shore. Unpleasant shorebreak possible in certain conditions. S, SE and E wind: offshore — do not kite. SW wind: gusts due to Rotterdam port / Maasvlakte wind shadow. Restricted kite zone — stay between Badweg and Rechtestraat. No kiting in front of the harbour. Respect swimming zones.
Best with SW, W, NW, N and NE. S, SE and E: offshore — do not launch. In SW: wind often gusty due to shelter from Rotterdam port and 2nd Maasvlakte — use a slightly larger kite. North: most stable wind. Moderate waves (less than Scheveningen). Ideal downwinder starting point: "Hoek to Helder" ~130km annual event runs from this beach to Den Helder.
