Ventspils is a port city on Latvia's west coast, with a long Blue Flag sandy beach. The kitesurfing spot is on the southern beach of the city, facing the open Baltic Sea.

The coast faces west, perfectly exposed to the prevailing west and south-west winds which blow side-shore to onshore. The bottom is sandy and launching is easy. In north-west winds, conditions are side-onshore and very pleasant.

Ventspils is a vibrant city with good tourist infrastructure. The beach is well maintained with parking available. The kitesurf season runs from May to October.
