Roja is a small fishing port on the north coast of Courland, Latvia, on the shores of the Gulf of Riga. The kitesurfing spot is on the beach near the harbour.

The beach is sandy and faces north towards the Gulf of Riga. North to north-west winds are most favourable, blowing onshore. The bottom is sandy and the water shallow. The Gulf of Riga offers calmer waters than the open Baltic Sea.
