Punta Trettu operates as two distinct areas: a shallow flat water lagoon on the inside (beginner/intermediate) and a more exposed section on the outside for advanced riders seeking more power. The lagoon has a sandy, very shallow bottom and is used by schools. The spot is semi-wild — no permanent infrastructure on site, bring everything you need.
Open all year round
Open year-round. Best season: May to September. Punta Trettu is one of the most wind-consistent spots in southern Sardinia, with the Maestrale blowing reliably from spring to autumn.
Beginner
Inside lagoon: flat water, sandy bottom at 0.2 to 0.8m, one of the best waist-deep riding areas in Sardinia. Outside section: chop of 0.3 to 0.7m with the Maestrale, longer fetch towards the south. Water is warm and clear. No breaking waves inside the lagoon.
The Maestrale is the dominant wind, reaching Punta Trettu with good power after crossing the Gulf of Oristano. It typically blows 15 to 30 knots from June to September, strongest in the afternoon. The Libeccio (southwest) also produces regular sessions. The peninsula itself provides some lateral shelter on certain angles, smoothing out gusts in the lagoon. Wind is noticeably steadier inside than on the open sea side.
