Overview

Portstewart Strand is a magnificent 3 km sandy beach managed by the National Trust, on the north coast. Facing northwest, it offers excellent surf and kite conditions with consistent waves. You can drive on the beach (paid access). One of the most popular beaches in Northern Ireland.

Car access directly onto the beach via the National Trust gate (paid). Parking also at the top of the dunes. From Portstewart, follow signs for "Strand".
Hazards
Vehicles on the beach. Rip currents. Shore break in large swell. Rocks at the eastern end towards the River Bann.
