Lake Velence is Hungary's third largest natural lake, located between Budapest and Lake Balaton. It is a very shallow flat-water kitesurfing spot (average depth 1.5 meters), making it an excellent spot for beginners. Prevailing winds come from the northwest. The lake is easily accessible from Budapest (about 50 km). The season runs from April to October.
